I remember getting my first camera in 1972, a Kodak Instamatic 124. It used a drop-in film cartridge that held 24 exposures and a "flashcube" for reduced light shots. It was an early Christmas gift to take with me on a school trip to Florida to march with my high school band in the 1973 Orange Bowl Parade. The act of documenting my first trip away from home was intoxicating. I remember dropping off the film cartridge at the local Fotomat and waiting for the negatives and prints to come back from the lab with anticipation.
A couple of years later, I tried my hand at SLR photography and developing my own work in the darkroom, but the expense and time were too much for a young man heading off to college.
Fast forward thirty years...I bought a small Nikon point & shoot and rediscovered my love for photography. In a couple of more years, I bought my first DSLR and started developing my photographic skills. In 2014, I started my photography business.
As my "tag line" under my logo states, I explore life and its many aspects through capturing the light from moments in time. Whether that exploration is using my camera to document a news story, record a corporate event, photograph a high school senior about to embark on their next stop on life's journey, or a waiting on a sunrise over a mountain vista, my aspiration is to create unique photographic art and deliver a pleasant experience for my customers.
My photographic philosophy can be expressed by quotes from two famous photographers. The first is from Robert Frank which says "There is one thing the photograph must contain, the humanity of the moment". The second, is from Magnum photographer David Alan Harvey..."Don't shoot what it looks like, shoot what it FEELS like"!
